Family Activity: Gratitude Jar (Frasco de Gratitud)

There are weeks when we feel called to slow down and notice the quiet blessings that surround us. A Gratitude Jar is a simple way for families to pause, remember, and give thanks together. It turns a few minutes each night into a small

prayer and helps us see how much love God pours into our daily life.

Supplies

  • A clean jar, cup, or small container

  • Paper cut into small leaves, hearts, or squares

  • Pens or markers

  • A little space on the table or a shelf to keep the jar visible

How to Begin

Step 1: Choose a time each night. Gather for a moment after dinner or before bedtime. Invite each person to think of one blessing from the day. It can be big or small. Anything that made them smile, feel loved, or feel close to God.

Step 2: Write it down. Write one gratitude on a paper leaf, heart, or note. Fold it and place it gently in the jar. Encourage everyone to listen for blessings everywhere. A kind word. A warm meal. A moment of laughter. A quiet answered prayer.

Step 3: Read them together. At the end of the week, gather around the jar. Slowly open each note and read them out loud. Let the room fill with the gratitude your family has collected. This moment often becomes the sweetest part of the week.

A Simple Prayer

“Lord, thank you for every blessing you place in our lives. Help us remember your goodness each day. Fill our hearts with gratitude, and let that gratitude bring joy to our family and to everyone we meet.”

This small practice helps us pause, remember, and give thanks. A Gratitude Jar becomes a gentle reminder that God gives first and that his love meets us in the simplest places.
